Trending Skincare Ingredients 2021
Skincare, like most things, follows trends. Trends come and go, with new ingredients hitting the market all the time, or old favourites making a comeback, there is always something going on in skincare. Over recent years we have seen trending ingredients such as Hyaluronic Acid, Glycolic Acid and Vitamin C, popping up not only in skincare but in makeup as well. It's time for some newbies to share in the spotlight!
So what do we predict to be trending in skincare in 2021...
Probiotics
Probiotics are live cultures of good bacteria. They have been around for years in the health industry and have become very popular for helping to promote good gut health. It was only a matter of time before they made their way into the skincare world.
Probiotics aren't just hype, they can actually help to balance your skins pH, helps to reinforce your skins natural barrier and reduce inflammation.
Who can benefit?
All skin types can benefit from probiotics, however this is particularly good news for anyone with concerns of acne or inflammation.
Collagen/Peptides
Collagen is nothing new in skincare, but thanks to health industry and celebrity endorsements of the benefits of collagen (we see you Khloe Kardashian!) it has jumped back into the spotlight.
You will get the most anti-ageing benefits from taking collagen internally, as opposed to in your skincare, however collagen in skincare does still help to moisturise and topically plump the skin.
Who can benefit?
Those who will see the most benefit are those with normal - dry skin types, with concerns of ageing.
Niacinamide
Niacinamide (or Vitamin B3) isn't new by any means, but we predict we will see a lot more of it in 2021. Niacinamide is a powerhouse ingredient with many benefits for all skin types. It helps to improve skin texture, reduce signs of ageing, brightening, balances oil production as well as helps retain moisture.
Who can benefit?
Everyone can benefit from niacinamide!
Australian Natives
Australian native ingredients are definitely a hot commodity on the skincare market recently. Thanks to our harsh environment, Australian plants have adapted to protect themselves from UV rays and tough conditions. This makes them an ideal source for extracts to help protect and heal the skin. Usually containing high levels of Vitamin C and antioxidants, they are great ingredients for brightening and reducing redness. Look out for Kakadu Plum, Davidson Plum, Desert Lime and Tea Tree.
Who can benefit?
Depending on the Australian native, everyone can benefit.
